What is Identity Lock?

Your username is your identity. Identity Lock makes sure nobody else can walk around in a cheap copy of it. The moment you claim a name, its look-alikes are locked to you too. Nobody can register an address that could be mistaken for yours, whether to confuse your contacts or to phish them.

What's included with every account?

Dots, dashes and underscores don't make a new name. Once you own your.name@fuck.it, these are off the table for everyone else:

• yourname@fuck.it
• your-name@fuck.it
• your_name@fuck.it

What does Identity Lock PLUS add?

On EDGE, APEX and all Premium usernames, PLUS goes after the sneakier tricks too, the kind people use when they really want to look like you:

• Separator games: y.o.u.r_n-a-m-e@fuck.it
• Digit swaps: y0urname@fuck.it, yourn4me@fuck.it
• Typos: missing, added or swapped letters like yournme@fuck.it, yourrname@fuck.it or youranme@fuck.it

In short: if it could pass for you at a quick glance, nobody else gets it.

What if you close your account?

Your username doesn't go straight back on the shelf. It stays locked for 12 months, together with its look-alikes, so nobody can pick it up and start receiving mail meant for you. After that, it's released.

Why it matters

A memorable address is only worth something if it stays unmistakably yours. Without protection, anyone could register yourrname@fuck.it and email your contacts as you. Identity Lock shuts that door before anyone can knock on it.
